Live from Mosala in Tehran

by Kamran on July 30, 2009

Today is the 40th day since the death of Neda Agha Soltan. Mousavi and Karoubi had planned to organize a memorial at Mosalah, a gigantic complex in Tehran. They were denied a permit, but tried to hold a ceremony in Tehran’s massive graveyard Behesht Zahra. Reports say that Mousavi was forced to leave by the police. Now people are heading to Mosalah as well.

From a source in Tehran near Mosala:

(17:45, Tehran) Horns are honking. People are gathering around Mosala. There are 300-400 people there now.

Down with the dictator!

Don’t be afraid, we are all together!

Police are beating them. Demonstrators are being forced to escape via Saboonchi St. near Hovaizeh.

People are filming from their windows and chanting Allah-o Akbar. They are booing the police. Girls are screaming and car horns are honking.

People are chanting Ya Hussein, Mir-Hussein.

The plain clothes militia are chanting Down with those against the Supreme Leader.

In plain daylight, people are going on to their roofs to chant Allah-o Akbar.

Down with the dictator!

There are about 100 plain clothes militia on motor bikes.

The satellite is now jammed. Now it’s back again.

People are being scattered now.

People are still on their roofs shouting Allah-o Akbar.

The group is forming again. It seems bigger now.

(18:05) They are chanting Ya Hussein Mir Hussein. I can hear a man and woman screaming. More people are going on to their roofs.

(UPDATE 19:08)
Chasing the people into the side streets… girls screaming (I saw myself that they were beaten)..The security forces are breaking the windows of ALL cars according to an eye witness on the streets. They are saying that the drivers have been honking their horns. There have been a few tear gas shots heard in our area, and my eyes are sore…

There are so many plain clothes militia. And they are all worried…. The police and the plain clothes militia are both worried.
