Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani has called on the Iranian nation to take part in the annual march which takes places across the world on the International Al-Quds Day.

In a statement which has a direct reference to recent events, Rafsanjani has called this gathering “an eternal awakening of the heedless.” In a clear reference to the current state of affairs in the country, Rafsanjani described the march as an objection to “the crimes and totalitarianism of a small minority” which will result in “shaking the weak foundations of tyranny and colonialism.”
This statement comes as many in the pro-Ahmadinejad camp were casting doubts about whether Rafsanjani would deliver the sermon on Al-Quds Day.
Each year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, millions march in support of the Palestinian people and their struggle for peace and justice. However, this year and after the fraudulent presidential elections in June and the tragic events that followed, this day is even more significant for the people of Iran as they fight to reclaim their own lost rights.
