Iran’s Green Movement is getting ready for Muharram, the holiest Islamic month for Shia Muslims who are the majority of Iranian population. The month Muharram will start this Friday the 18th of December. The Day of Ashura (عاشوراء (ʻĀshūrā’, Ashura, Ashoura, and other spellings) is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram. It is commemorated by the Shia Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH (October 10, 680 AD[1]).
From the old days the Remembrance of Muharram symbolize the ethical superiority of the braves and justice seeking heroes in confrontation with mighty and powerful tyrannical rules. It is a call for stand up and fight against unjust. During the 1978-1979 revolution the Remembrance of Muharram turned to the hugest street protest against Shah and his regime. Thirty years later and three days ahead from Muharram of 2009, the overwhelming amount of posters and video clips by Green Movements approve that peoples protests will turn this year’s Imam Husayn Remembrance to a street protest against the political tyranny again.

با هیچ تهدید و حملهای خانهنشین نخواهم شد!
مهدی کروبی، در یک پیام ویدئویی که در سایت تغییر منتشر شد، چگونگی حملهور شدن نیروهای حامی دولت کودتا به خود در نمایشگاه مطبوعات را توضیح داد. کروبی در این پیام از نیت اصلی کودتاگران که خانهنشین کردن اوست سخن گفته و این فکر آنان را خیالی باطل و خام دانسته است.

Video- Tehran October 13th Student protest at Azad University

For the third consecutive week, today (Oct 13, 2009) more than 2000 students of Tehran’s Azad University held a gathering in protest to the coup government and treatment of student activist. The students we chanting “Death to dictator”, “God is great…”, “Coup government, resign..resign” , “Ya Hossein, Mir Hossein” and similar Green slogans in protest. There are reports that around 100 Basiji forces that were brought to the University by two buses violently attacked the students with batons and tear gas and even locked up one of the students in the office of the representative of the Supreme Leader in this university. According to this report the students have been resisting these attacks and have been chanting slogans in university’s lobby and different floors.

تجمع اعتراضی دانشجویان دانشگاه ازاد تهران مرکز به خشونت کشیده شد.
به گزارش خبرنامه امیرکبیر، صبح امروز حدود دو هزار دانشجوی این دانشگاه سومین تجمع اعتراضی خود را برگزار کردند. اما در ادامه این تجمع دانشجویان با اسپری فلفل و گاز اشکاور مورد حمله قرار گرفته اند.
هم اکنون نیز درگیری میان نیروهای بسیج و نیروهای امنیتی و دانشجویان ادامه دارد و صدای شعارهای “دولت کودتا؛ استعفا استعفا” از داخل این دانشگاه به گوش می رسد. هم چنین این دانشگاه هم اکنون در محاصره کامل نیروهای امنیتی و انصار قرار دارد.
گفتنی است این سومین تجمع اعتراضی دانشجویان در اعتراض به وقایع پس از انتخابات و سرکوب گسترده اعتراضات مردمی است.
